Jim Thorpe's Indian name is Wa-tho-huck, which in English means "Bright Path". It is the ideal name for the Thorpe Association's programs intended to influence young people in positive directions.
The Bright Path program encourages young people to participate in positive activities and teaches teamwork, self-motivation and self determination. The programs promote health, fitness, academics, well-being and self-esteem. By recognizing and honoring outstanding accomplishments and the winner of competitive events, the Bright Path Youth Programs reward children for participation, effort and self-esteem.
