Mike Holder

In the last 29 years, Holder has become synonymous with success in college golf. His vision and fundraising abilities resulted in the creation of Karsten Creek, a magnificent golf course in Stillwater, Oklahoma, selected as the Best New Public Golf Course in 1994 by Golf Digest.

Holder took over the coaching post at Oklahoma State University in July, 1973. He has coached 100 All-American selections, including 35 first-team choices, and has numerous former players on the PGA Tour, overseas and on mini-tours.

During his rein, OSU has produced two Ben Hogan Award winners, based on academic and athletic excellence nationwide. Holder has had 18 academic All-American selections since 1984. He is only the second golf coach at OSU. Labron Harris coached from 1947-1973. Holder has won 24 league crowns and eight national championships in his first 29 seasons.

In 29 seasons, OSU has entered 406 tournaments and won 164 titles for a 40.3 winning percentage, posting 91 runner-up finishes. Meaning OSU has placed either first or second in 62.8 percent of its tournaments. His players have won 20 individual conference titles in addition to five NCAA individual crowns.

As a member of the OSU golf team from 1968-1970, Holder earned honorable mention All-American honors as a sophomore and third team status in his junior and senior seasons. In 1970, he captured the Big Eight medalist honor while leading the Cowboys to the team league title.
