Shannon Miller is the most decorated American gymnast, male or female, in U.S. history, having won more Olympic and World Championship medals than any other American gymnast.

She has earned seven Olympic medals, eight World Championship medals, and has won an astounding 58 International and 49 National competition medals. As one of the "Magnificent Seven" at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, Shannon Miller was a member of the first U.S. gymnastics team ever to win an Olympic team gold medal. She also won an individual gold medal for her performance on the balance beam.

She is a three-time Sullivan Award nominee (1993, 1994, and 1995), an award honoring the top amateur athlete in the USA. Miller won the 1994 Dial Award, America's most coveted award for high school seniors, and at the USA Gymnastics Congress, she was named 1994 Athlete of the Year.

Miller was the 1994 Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Award and named a Team Xerox Olympian. In '93, she was presented the Master of Sport Award, one of the highest honors one can receive in the sport. She was named the USOC Sports Woman of the Month three times and was one of four finalists for the Zaharias Award in '92, '93, and '94.

Shannon contributes much of her time to numerous charities such as the Children's Miracle Network, muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer's disease and Make-A-Wish Foundation. She has also served as a national spokesperson for the Red Ribbon Drug Free Youth Celebration.
